CFUnited Early Bird Pricing Ends Today

If you haven't registered for CFUnited 2009 yet, you'll want to be sure to do so TODAY to take advantage of the early bird pricing option. CFUnited, now in its fifth year, is the #1 ColdFusion developer conference in the world. This year, it will be bigger than ever with more speakers and topics than ever before. If you're a CF developer, do whatever you have to do to get to Washington, DC this August for the CFUnited ColdFusion conference!
Also, don't forget that yours truly will be presenting the topic "How to Setup a Local Development Environment". A topic that every beginner and perhaps some veterans will learn something about the art of setting up a local and productive development environment. My session will most definitely be one of the most important and informative sessions at the conference this year.
Managers, if you're still not convinced about sending your team members away for a week, follow this link for an informative manager's guide: http://cfunited.com/images/CFUnited2009_managerguide.pdf.

Create and share documents... for FREE

I saw a plea for help on slashdot today.

Jawdy writes
"I am currently leading a small game development project with artists and developers scattered all over the country. Getting together is somewhat difficult, but we try to do this every couple of months. We often share all kinds of documents with each other, and even do so while using IM clients (GTalk and MSN), but this winds up being a tedious process of: send document; read and edit; send back; rinse and repeat. What I wanted to ask fellow slashdotters is, if anyone knows of any FOSS software that can handle IM (or even voice chat), Whiteboard and document sharing — where we can all see the document, pass around 'editing rights' and edit live. Even several small apps that handle the individual components would help out!"

That got me thinking, what solutions are really out there?

Google Docs, Abiword, Zoho Writer?

Then it hit me... Acrobat.com!

Acrobat.com is a set of online services — file sharing and storage, PDF converter, online word processor, and web conferencing — you can use to create and share documents, communicate in real time, and simplify working with others.

You can now access your ConnectNow meeting room directly from within CS4 applications. To share your screen from within most Creative Suite 4 products, choose File > Share My Screen. You can even temporarily hand over control of the screen to a guest to collaborate on a file.

As an added convenience, Acrobat.com on Adobe AIR will be included with most of the Creative Suites, so you can launch ConnectNow from your desktop and use other Acrobat.com services including convenient file upload, storage and sharing of large files.

It's free, so sign up now.

RegEx: Online Regular Expression Testing Tool

Every now and then I have to do some RegEx stuff and I am not a big fan of pulling out reference manuals, and RegEx Cheat Sheets. Instead I have used a bunch of different online Regular Expression testing tools and I like the one that gSkinner.com has put out above all others.

Check it out, They also have a desktop version built in AIR.

Travel Reservation for February 9th-13th

Yes, I am taking a vacation. For those that know me this is a very rare occurrence. The vacation that I am taking is RIAdventure! The only way I found that I could take a "Vacation", without going to a conference to present or attend, was to be able to (at least) talk shop with a bunch of like minded people (Difficult to find around here).

So to (re)use the words of the man himself (Joshua Cyr);

The idea is simple. Let's all get together in a relaxed atmosphere someplace warm and fun in February. A cruise! No sessions. No conference. Just a predetermined cruise date and destination to share with anyone and everyone interested. Invite friends and family. Network with others interested in ColdFusion, Flex, AIR and other web goodness.

I hope to see you there.
